Perhaps check Petsmart's deals on aquariums including a stand?This can work well and end up a decent value,as there are some tanks which can be great for smaller hamster species.For anything on the larger end of the spectrum you may need to build a lid,but that's not difficult or expensive.

Another option is a lot more difficult and doesn't always end well.It involves physically removing a glass panel on the side of each tank and you'd have to have several tanks,but for 20 more dollars during the dollar per gallon sale at Petco you could get a second 20 gallon tank and then you'd have twice the floor space.You could do the same thing with any size tank,however that would also mean you'd have to get more of them if you wanted to expand them.
