Molasses isn't all bad as it does contain some nutrients & isn't just sugar but if you have a diabetes prone species, Russian Campbell, Russian hybrid or Chinese then it is advisable to avoid any kind of sugar in the diet although a tiny amount of sugar in the diet won't cause diabetes in itself, it's a little more complex than that.
I don't think any animal needs sugar tbh whether prone to diabetes or not.
I'd agree with the food suggestions Amity has made but do be careful if you choose to mix higgins & mazuri, you need to get the balance right as the mazuri is too high in protein.
