Re: Travel cages: How to get one, and when to use it?
Travel cages are very different to each other, but this depends on what you need them for!
A quick trip for example 30 minutes or less(can also apply to small cage cleans as well)could be a very small carrier just large enough for your hamster to turn around in.These can be anything from a very small plastic "aquarium" carrier to a Critter Trail cage or similar,or even a pet store hamster cage which is not large enough to be used as a permanent cage.
For longer trips between 30 minutes and 1 hour, you could go with something between a Critter Trail and small bin cage in terms of size.
Anything that will require travelling for more than a day including vacation etc will require two things, one being a travel cage that is just large enough to fit the necessary things into and the other being a smaller travel cage for use during short drives within that time.A larger travel cage can be unsafe during car trips for a hamster to stay in,as they could go flying inside the cage or items in the cage could fly around and then injuries could occur.
