Default Adopting a Chinese - will he be hard to tame?

So after a lot of research I went into the pet store to look for a winter white. But there in the adoption section was a little Chinese boy - he sat right in the front of his cage cleaning himself for a good fifteen minutes and was very unfazed by everyone peering in. His sign said he's been in there a month and that his last family gave him up. I asked how old he was but they don't know. I think he looks quite young but I've never had a Chinese before and I was wondering if it is likely to be a lot harder to tame him if he is a bit older? I'm guessing he's between 4 and 12 months old. Here is a little video of him in his tiny little cage on his sawdust https://youtu.be/MFkNIo34XQ4
I'm planning on popping back in a few days to handle him and see if he seems skittish at all but he seemed fairly happy - even went to sleep right at the front there!
Thanks!
