That would be too long to leave a ham regularly, that's half the week really & you couldn't keep him/her in a travel type cage that long.
I think souffle has a good point, I know it's hard really wanting a pet of any kind when the time or situation isn't right but it may well be better to wait until you're able to give your ham a permanent home & all the time & attention it will need.
