There's usually about 3-4in in my cages which seems to work out okay for my hamsters. I'm not sure how much that would take in terms of bags if Carefresh but the Natural variety of Carefresh comes in larger bags than the colours or confetti and was available in Pets at Home stores at one point for about £20.
