Admittedly it's been a long time since I've had any Syrians but I've had both males and female Chinese and on a whole my boys have been a lot more laid back than my girls.

My current boy is literally so laid back that he'll go to sleep in your elbow which is pretty cute whilst one of my girls is the total opposite, keeping herself busy with what I call 'creative housekeeping' during her waking hours and her cage is always a total mess.
