Default Poorly honey

Hi everyone we are new to this forum so hello.
Got a gorgeous Syrian teddy bear hamster he had wet tail 4 months ago but fully recovered. He then became poorly about 4 weeks ago but got better a couple of days later by himself. But 2 weeks ago he started with wet tail again and refused antibiotics and treatment for diarrhea seemed to pick up last Tuesday so vet said wait and see before we help him to go to sleep. Just checked on our lovely little boy and he is so poorly and a struggle to walk out of his bed and when he did he tripped over and couldn't get up for a minute then he struggled back to his bed. His ears are no longer up they seem to have disappeared he was a long haired chunky little guy but his fur is flat and he is so thin now. Would it be kinder to take him to the vet to be helped to cross his rainbow bridge or live in hope still? He doesn't like to be handled so worried his last moments in the vets hands will distress him more. We love him so much and when we said night night honey love you lots he squeaked from his bed. Please any help appreciated xxx
