it's good he has stopped bar chewing. You can upgrade to a Barney cage. Your hamster may be stressed by the change though. I think he would settle after awhile though.

It will help him settle easier if the substrate, nest and hoards are moved into the new cage. Arrange the cage so it is the same or nearly the same as the old cage.

You could let him explore the new cage for a little while a few times before moving him in permanently.

Go with how he reacts to the new cage.
