I always freeze left over baby food I put it in a ziplock bag and then squish it flat, then when frozen I smash it up and let pieces thaw lol. An ice cube takes forever to defrost, when its flat it takes no time and can layer the bags in the freezer

I use mainly ellas kitchen pouches but sparingly and mine adore them, have never had any negative effects They also have the cow and gate banana and strawberry breakfast. Its a powder that I mix with baby milk lol. That goes down a treat too and easier because powder can be made to a specific quantity
