When is your 2 week vacation & upcoming move? Does your boyfriend like & take good care of Calvin? I might wait until after the move & 2 week vacation then bring him home then?

Depends on alot of factors that I don't know all of them so it's a hard decision I'm sure. But taming wise the hamster is best with less stress & familiar environment.

My hamsters don't let me play with them either, all 6 of them, outside of their cage. I think that's normal, just be glad Calvin doesn't bite

I'd keep trying to tame but don't force anything. Just go at his pace & don't give up on him if he doesn't turn out to be what you hoped for?
