Well I only have tubes that go from the top of the cage to the floor... so maybe the set up is different. But say the whole thing is 4 feet long-- what I'll do is take the half that she's in and separate it, then lay that down in the cage and close the lid. Usually when it's separated like that, its not as interesting to her and she'll come out on her own. I just like doing it that way rather than forcing her out.
I would imagine your hamster would do the same... eventually come out if you separated the tubes somewhat (but not all the way) and lay them in the cage when you're ready for him to come out. Just an idea
