I am so sorry - what a horrible thing to happen. It is likely she had it when you got her. I think the burial you suggested sounds nice. Lots of people on here have little burials for their hamsters. You could mark the grave with something or plant some flowers on it.

It's a bit soon to think about another one, I know, but when you do, do come on here and we can help you get everything prepared for next time and answer in questions on set up and safe bedding and so on, and what to look for when choosing your next hammy. But it does sound like it was just bad luck. Where did you get her from and how long did you have her for?
