I've got a couple of tanks that I use as 'Growing Up' cages for Chinese Hamsters. They work quite well for what I use them for but I probably wouldn't use one as a permanent home unless that particular hamster had a need for it.
I will either use a cube similar to
this to add a water bottle to the tank or I'll use an extra strong velcro. Again this depends on the hamster's personality and I'd always use the velcro for a particularly mischievous hamster.
You can also buy stands and hooks for water bottles but I've not tried them myself.
