Apparently almonds are ok as long as they are the "sweet" variety not bitter, as these contain levels of cyanide too high for a hammys' liver to process. They should also have their skins removed as these too contain toxins which aren't very good for them.
However, as i am unsure of how to differentiate between the almond varieties in the supermarket I personally avoid them.
You could always make a special mix of Sweep's favorite treats and put those inside instead
