I agree with the "can't get to the edge" comment. I think 4mm is fine because that's way thicker and sturdier than the existing plastic container in Flowerfairy's picture. I also use 4mm thick for the front of my DIY cage (my robo hamster is a bit smaller than the Syrian though
).
