I think he is a red eared slider from looking at pictures.
He is older than we are, according to my friend, but I don't know how old the turtle is exactly. My friend says it is a boy.

The poor guy is living in a little tank with a few inches of water, and practically nothing else. He does have a filtration system though.

I'm aware that they can carry salmonella and this is honestly what has me worried most. If he is so old though, is it likely that he is infectious? (what I mean by that is, I don't think he has made anyone sick yet!) Granted, I don't think he is really handled much to have the chance to spread it if he does carry it >.>
