Actually, I'm not so sure about bran - it's high on the ingredient list. It used to be recommended for humans for roughage and then not recommended on its own as it could cause gut problems and 'wholefood' was recommended instead (ie the grains with the bran in, not the bran on its own). But if Hamsters have been having it with no problems it must be ok.

I also came across this thread from last year where some hamsters and degus had had reactions to something in it - but it seems the formula is different now, and a hamster could be allergic to anything really. Degus have more particular dietary needs so that's not particularly relevant to hamsters, and the hamster that had the allergic reaction may have reacted to one of the ingredients in the older formula.

You can buy wheat ears separately. I did try this once and Charlie ignored them lol. He ignores millet too.
