Yes the shoebox house would be great under that shelf. It would extend the shelf to the edge as well and be a good nesting box. Agree with RH about the plastic house and food dish. Ideally they need a house that is open underneath onto the substrate. They can dig down a bit when nesting and like to bury hoards in their house too. Plus it makes spot cleaning easier and the plastic ones sweat and aren't easy to keep hygienic with a solid floor. I love the little ceramic hide
