Hammocks aren't always such a good idea for hamsters - they can still fall between hammocks and don't have good eyesight - plus it depends on the hamster. Our hamster isn't a chewer - until I put a hammock in and he started to chew it. For a hamster that chews hammocks, you have to take them out or they can get digestive blockages. I stick to wood and plastic in the cage now. Hamsters are better with a lower cage really - so they can't fall more than about 25cm and then land on something soft like deep substrate. Setting up the cage can be quite a feat sometimes, making sure there is nothing hard they can fall on from a height - eg putting ceramic dishes or wood bridges, underneath something else like a shelf or sputnik. I think the Mamble really needs a full level in it, or two overlapping shelves, to make it safe for a Hamster.
