Default Re: Guinea Pigs

Its actually very rare to find an overweight guinea pig. They are naturally chunky little animals and their weights have a huge variation to them. An adult male guinea pig can range from being 900-1200g and an adult female can range between 700-900g.

Unlike rabbits, guinea pigs don't NEED a run area for exercise. If the cage is suitable for two guinea pigs (should be 120cm long at least for two piggies) and they have suitable enrichment such as tunnels and things that they are interested in (varies between each piggie) then they have a suitable exercise area.

My guinea pigs (I have 3) are in a large 6ft hutch (kept outside) and during the summer months they go out in the run for exercise, but its mainly so they can graze on the grass.
