Just a note to anyone buying the Karlie Wonderland wheel as we have been debating this wheel in another thread recently. To make the running surface safe, it should be checked over and lightly sanded before using it and better still to double the safety, buy a small pot of Plastikote paint (water based) for under £3.00 online to coat the running surface. This helps to seal the wood too. Plastikote is child safe and comes in a natural clear varnish or a variety of funky colours.
