Divorce is extremely hard for everyone but kids really do suffer, offer to help her with the care. A lot of parents think that the kids don't know what's going on but, they do and it can have such a bad effect on them. Thank goodness you're there to help with the mice and to help her get them into a routine. This will help her and make her realise that pets need looking after.
