In that case, please don't take her pets away. I went through something similar and because I was upset I wasn't brushing my cat enough (supposedly that was the reason) and my mom got rid of him. We were really close (the cat and I, not my mom and I) and I spiraled into a terrible, years-long depression as a result. If it were me, I would just try to help out with the things she may be forgetting to do but without chastising. I'm sure she already feels bad enough x
Also, can she get counseling to help her through?
