I would say yes! And put a lid on the bin cage just in case your dog gets in the room by accident. He's tall enough to reach into the bin if he really wants to. Is there any way you can secure the bin so that your dog can't reach it? At least at night when he wants to sleep there? Or perhaps get some professional training help for the anxiety.
