I was just reading the topic about recapturing escaped hamsters, and I wondered if anyone had any amusing stories about what their little escapees have got up to whilst out and about?
When I was a child, we kept hamsters. My sister had one called Cuddles (heinous name I know but she was 6 then
). It got out of its Rotastak one night and we thought it was gone for good. Then the next day we saw a flash of something running across the fireplace. Cuddles had climbed into the gas fire and got into the cavity wall insultation to one side of it. Luckily it was summer and the fire wasn't in use
We tried tempting him out with food but it didn't work, so a day or two later my poor dad ended up taking the gas fire out completely so that we could reach into the insulation and pull him out
