If they are both adults they will not get wet tail from stress.
You should keep the adventuring hamster strictly in quarantine for at least 4 weeks. He needs to be in a different room with his own food etc and you must be careful not to handle one after the other as illnesses can be spread through touching your skin and clothes etc.
I'm sure he will be fine and once he is back on a good diet will soon gain weight and condition.
