Well what I do with mine is I have a tube and I've lined it with sand paper and when they come out on a night I let them run through it a couple of times to help file their nails and keep them a bit shorter, I only let them run through the tube when they're out because apparently the sand paper is bad for their feet
you could try doing something like this though if you're worried about it, or you can take them to the vets and they'll trim them if you don't feel comfortable
