As some here know, I was keen to get my younger daughter a happy hammy as as her first pet. My hubby took me and both girls to the Fillongly show. Sure enough we found the perfect little lady ham:
She looks a little bit pensive there, but she soon settled.
I upgraded her cage and wheel during the week. Her new cage is big enough for a 12" wheel (should the need arise) but for now she's the perfect size for the 8" one I had in.
She's a long-haired dark grey and absolutely lovely. She's very sweet natured. She hasn't bitten at all, but is so silky smooth she can slip through hands and run like the wind - should she feel the need! Her favourite thing is to sit and be brushed with the baby brush I bought for the job.
Buying from a breeder (instead of a pet shop) has had exactly the outcome I'd hoped for. The only tiny problem (if that's the word) is we went out to get one hammy and came home with three - but I gather this isn't too unusual lol!
