Thanks for the replies, I thought Spot on was just for fleas.
There aren't any signs of mites and I personally don't think it's necessary to treat him. However my mum sees him scratching (which I think is routine grooming) and nags me crazily about treating him, so I said I'd find out a better treatment option than the spray in case I find it necessary in future.
What would be the signs if ever he did get mites? Are they large enough to be visible?
