I'd let the vet do it. She's been through so much already. It really isn't that costly for just nails and it is so much safer. Once they are done, put a small terra cotta plant pot in the cage for her to climb on and in. It will help keep her nails down. Also, since she appears to be feeling a whole lot better, once her nails are done, she may begin to keep them trimmed herself by gnawing them down.
