Default Re: Living together

Putting it simply, if you add another robo to your existing robo, they will fight and possibly kill one another. So unless you want that to happen, you should stick with just the one roborovski. They can only be `housed together` if they are bought or rehomed at the same time, at the same age and are already together. Human feelings are not those of a hamster, so feeling that you owe him something is placing human emphasis on things. All he requires is your care and love. If you have a decent sized cage/tank, a good wheel and your robo is happy, he doesn`t need that being taken away by the stress of being placed with a strange, unrelated robo suddenly arriving in his little life.

Hamsters in pet shops don`t fight because they are under a certain age and all related. Once they are sold, they are either sold singly or in pairs or small groups. If they are sold as a single hamster, they should stay that way. Hamsters mature and become adults. They will not tolerate another hamster once they are on their own, especially one who has been living happily alone for six months. My last roborovski was treated this way by a previous owner, which is why I rescued him. They thought it was a good `idea` to buy a baby roborovski to keep him company, which resulted in my male attacking the younger one.

I hope that should answer your question.
