There is such thing as too much protein in adult hamsters and more so in elderly hamsters, excess protein is a strain on their kidneys when they dont need it. For a young hamster (below 6 months) there is little chance of overdoing protein. I spend a lot of time on the german boards and the general consensus there is a 15% protein base mix will be fine for their entire life, but the extras fed should change with age plenty for a young ham and none for an elderly ham and varying amounts in between. As your hamster is 6 weeks old there is no need to worry bout overdoing it
