I wouldn't use any type of shavings for rabbits unless you have a thick layer of hay on top. I learnt the hard way that shavings are bad for rabbits as I'm paying around £40 every few months for medication for the one rabbit I used shavings with. She has a permanent upper respiratory tract infection and I regret not researching it first
my rabbits have lino now and their litter trays are lined with newspaper then filled with hay. Not sure on chinchillas!
