I'm having exactly the same problem with my hamster- she always bites my hand if it's presented to her, even if there is food on the centre. She takes food from my fingers like an angel, but not when my hand is flat and there for the biting.

I actually transferred her from her cage into the bath via her ball, and put a towel over my feet (I do NOT want my toes being bitten!!- and it also served as a great way for her to clamber over me and not get freaked out that it was actually me).
I sat in the bath with her, and left her ball in there with us just so she had a 'safe place' to scurry back into if she felt threatened.

She seems to like that, but no progress on the hand biting- so I feel for you!!

It may be worth getting in? I thought mine would bite my legs, but she just sniffs and walks around, so your may do the same?
