Yeup, I found them crawling around the very bottom of the cage or on him or his toys. I tried to get a picture of them for this post but I couldn't get a non-blurry image, I will try again though. They're not the black spots visible on his bedding in the photo; that's just the paper.
At their biggest they're black and shiny, the size of a large nit or headlice. At their smallest they're like the tiny blood-coloured insects you sometimes find in brickwork.
