If we're talking Syrians, we have to remember that they live *below* ground throughout the day time when it's very hot above ground, then come out at night when it's much cooler.
But they are extremely active at night and will generate a lot of body heat searching for food.
I should think that high temperatures are the problem for Syrians so a cool - but not cold - environment would be the best for them.
