Nah, she's a tyke! We had 3 (later discovered 4) hamsters escape all in one day! our DIY wasn't quite up to scratch
shelf with cages fell down a bit and popped open doors of the three cages on the shelf below!
That was Ems Jim, Fluffybum and my female that escaped!
Fluffybum was caught during the night after she escaped when she crawled in bed with my friend
Moosley was caught doing the whole 'mating ritual' with Jim at Midday in the middle of the room a couple of days later
but from checking them both over they didnt look like they got anywhere but to be safe we were assuming she was pregnant...
We wanted to try and have one litter sired by Jim and out of one of our good females because we wanted Skwee's line to carry on and we had decided to use Jim anyway... Turns out he didnt know what on earth he was doing and wasnt remotely interested
Meanwhile, we realised we had another empty cage on the third shelf up
(the day we found Moo)....
Costello had managed to open his door, probably smelt Moo in season as she was the only female out by then...
When we decided to use Costello to see if Moo was remotely interested (using gloves) 4 days later, he obviously knew what to do (despite 'not' mated before) not that we let him get close enough to try. Moosley didn't come back into season and hasn't since.
We are thinking it was Costello who mated with Moo, also Costello is bigger than both Moo and Jim and he could have beaten up Jim any day.
soooo..... hence the mess..... i mean... if Moo wasn't so young it wouldnt be quite so awful
but shes only about 12 weeks now.
Oh, i wasn't planning on that photo because she was in the process of lunging out that darn box to bite me
once shes out her cage and away from her nest she's happy but if my hand's in her cage she *will* bite me or chase me about the cage teehee.
I felt babies in her belly today
Don't worry, i wasn't even trying to! she was laying flat on my hand looking exhausted
and i could feel tiny little squishy movements! it was gross but cute!
