Accidently dropped my syrian hamster help!
i have a syrian hamster who is male but unfortunately dont know his age i bought him 3 weeks back. i started taming him but yesterday i decided to take him out and put him on my lap to play with me a bit. it was going fine for some time but then he ran to the edge of my lap and i tried to block it there it then fell on the ground. I was sitting on a chair so the height of the fall was about 13ft.
after the fall it didnt show much signs of injury and he seemed quite normal but im really afraid if he is injured. Is there anything i can do about this situation?? Would a drop lead a hamster to death??

Re: Accidently dropped my syrian hamster help!
If he’s not showing any signs of injury or any change in behaviour he’s probably ok, keep an eye on him to be sure no changes develop.
It maybe better to try sitting on the floor with him until he’s more used to being handled, when they’re young they’re so active they rarely sit still for more than a moment so it’s better to be somewhere they can climb on & off you without any danger of falling.

Re: Accidently dropped my syrian hamster help!
I think that quite a few of us have been in this situation where a hamster jumped off us. I know that i have. One of mine was so impatient to get to the floor while i was sitting on a sofa that he jumped off my arm before i had a chance to catch him.
Like you, i was very worried but he was fine and run off to explore.
Do as cypher says and keep an eye on him.
I use a hamster ball to transport him out of his cage (do not use a hamster ball for anything else than a hamster taxi) and will always sit on the floor before i let him out because he's such an excitable little chap.
