That is very strange, I'm sorry to hear that this has happened.

I can only say that I hope someone can shed some light on what it is that is happening to your hamster, I hope she makes a full and quick recovery.

Yes, and very strange to have lost her brother. Did you buy them from a reputable breeder or hamstery who know about genetics or a hobby breeder who pairs random hamsters to sell their pups?

Maybe you could contact a vet by phone or email to get some avice. Wishing your hamster a speedy recovery.

I personally wouldn't assume it's genetic right away. There could be other causes, and it would be very helpful to consider the possibility of non-genetic issues first along with getting proper vet care.

Some things you mentioned actually sound like what I experienced with hamster dehydration. Pedialyte or a similar unflavored electrolyte boosting liquid would be absolutely critical if this is what your hamster is dealing with, but even with treatment some hamsters just won't make it. Of course it may not be dehydration which a good hamster vet would be able to determine.

I would definitely get proper vet care from a vet experienced with hamsters though. We're not vets and can't say with absolute certainty what is or is not going on with your hamster.

hey guys here is an update, the vet said it sounds like she had a minor stroke due to her bounceback today, as she was fine this morning, so just keep pushing fluids feeding water based foods such as cucumber and apple

Glad to hear she is doing better. As her brother died, I would be belt and braces about hygiene with hamster items and feeding etc. Just in case it was something contagious. Did you re-use any of his toys or bedding etc? Assume not, but also wash hands between hamster cages/feeding and assume you've thoroughly disinfected everything the one that died had and put it away somewhere.
