Re: Introducing Twinkle
Looks good to me Luna, I can imagine it must be harder with larger Syrian things to fit in, not something I’ve had to do so can’t suggest much but the pringle tube sounds like a good idea, silly Twinkle climbing the outside of his tubes & dangling off lol!

Thanks Cypher, I think it's partly I see a lot of 'epic' cage setups on IG, but I have no idea how people access places to clean in these type of setups and I don't have the energy to be lifting a hundred different things off to get to toilet areas.
Also, when you compare it to cage set up like yours (which I love) when it is for a syrian, a lot of hides just aren't big enough or you need to leave more room for them to manoeuvre comfortably compared to the smaller hamsters. Maybe it's a 'thing' I just need to let go of and stop comparing.. Eyes on my own yoga mat as it where.

I love that tree Ria, sadly Twinkle isn't a big fan of the sprays. He has got some sourghum in his cage at the moment, which in itself is like a tree.

I get that sometimes, the feeling that something is missing.
I resolve that by plonking a kitchen roll "tree" right in the middle or thereabouts like i did in Frieda's cage when i had this feling of something's not quite right.
A kitchen roll en naturelle or give it a lick of plastikote, stick a few millet sprays in it and there you have a tree.....which has a habit of losing its leaves.

Thanks Ria, as I just said to Cypher, I think I need to stop comparing myself so much to the 'epic' set ups I see on Instagram etc. I've started to collect the xmas decs together, so will see if I can add a bit of colour to his cage. The poor love will wake up thinking what the heck has the human done now...

Re: Introducing Twinkle
I know what you mean about comparing yourself to epic set ups. If I had a cage as big as my house and all the toys ever I still wouldn't be happy (I certainly wouldn't be happy about cleaning it out!).
But your set ups are great. I used your videos for inspiration when I was setting up for a new hamster this summer.
I'm with you on not wanting to move things to get to toilet areas.

Re: Introducing Twinkle
This may be a very stupid question because i don't do any kind of social media.
These "epic" set ups you're talking about, do hamsters actually live in them or are they show pieces?

Aww thanks, that's so nice to hear that my videos helped inspire you.
I'm glad I am not alone not wanting to move a hundred little things to clean toilet areas

They do look like show pieces at first, but I am sure the little hammies destroy them pretty quickly
I think they maybe look more interesting because they do whole sections with sand and plant things etc, but I don't want to take that risk with my hamster and plants. Also if i create a sand area that is not contained in it's own tub/tin whatever it's just a lot more work to maintain and keep clean and tidy. Maybe I just have to accept my limits for now due to my own health and energy levels.
