That looks fab and very promising. Can't wait to see the end result. You are so clever and lucky to have the skills to make your ideas come alive.

Thank you!
I'm happy to put my silly, creative brain into making a beautiful place for him, it is extremely satisfying.

Re: Mocha's thread
This is how I will leave it for a while and stop fussing.
I didn't change a lot apart from adding another big wood piece for him to climb over and tunnel under, plus what I originally liked in the first place - his woven grass basket sandbath.
He seemed pleased as well with its return. Why change something that works. I will be on the lookout for beautiful stones, but no rush. I also want to add some sprays which will look extremely pleasing and be fun for Mocha to forage.
I have also finally got a massive industrial mesh that I have cut to fit the enclosure perfectly. I will add a wooden frame for beauty later, but for now, it lays on top, and for Mocha to move that even a millimeter, he'd have to grow some muscles (as in, never, it's impossible).
Overall, I'm really happy with his upgrade.

Re: Mocha's thread
The mesh net for security when I'm not around, and a half lid for when we're hanging out in the evening/night, which makes it easier for me to interact.
I realized that the storage section can alternate as a seat for me where I can sit and talk/handle him.
This morning he came out for a proper snuggle and play, I was super happy to see him as he seemed relaxed and curious. He let me hold him proper, climbing over my hands, he explored my lap and let me pet him more than ever before. Makes one all warm and fuzzy inside when there's trust. Also, he's really grown! I'm amazed how quickly that went. I haven't properly weighed him yet, but he's certainly twice as big as when I got him.
A little video of him roaming

Re: Mocha's thread
After squinting a bit at it, I decided to add a precaution sheet of wood where Mocha could potentially chew the mesh (it is the only part of the enclosure where he could possibly reach standing on his hind legs). Rather than wait for it to happen, I sorted it now. On top of it discouraging him from the bars, it also gives him some privacy to eat on top of his wooden house and sneak out slightly more stealthy.
It is attached with zip ties, which I placed in corners where he can't reach them.
And the evening time lid looks really tidy and lets me spend some time with him without talking through bars.

Re: Mocha's thread
I thought about buying a second wheel for Mochas play sessions but changed my mind when I had a bit more time on my hands and I ended up making one.
This is a really simple DIY if you have a few components, with a little handy skill and a load of patience. It is 29 cm in diameter and the depth is 9 cm. It turned out surprisingly quiet and runs well, so I'm happy with it. Mocha hasn't seemed interested in running on a wheel yet when he is free-roaming but I still want him to have the option.
Before finishing the outer rim
Finished wheel

Re: Mocha's thread
Today Mocha's old baby enclosure was given a new chance to serve another animal at someone else's house - as a chicken roost!
