Re: Mocha's thread
He decided to spend most of the dawn and morning to dig downward tunnels from his little hideout house, I'm hoping he's made a tunnel system below to snug around in. He actually stuffed the house so full of bedding that one of the sides came off slightly from the pressure. He also took down and threw out the wall to the left. He's a decisive youngling.
I will build him a bigger one with multiple chambers and tunnel holes in the near future.
Right before hiding away for the rest of the day, he had a snack.

Re: Mocha's thread
You made this wheel?! That's amazing. You made the bendy bridges leading to the beautiful sandbath as well. How did you join the pieces of wood together?
When i look at your handsome hamster in his lovely set up thoughts like harmony, peace and sheer beauty come to my mind. It's a feast for the senses.

Thank you very much, I appreciate that!
For the bendy bridges, I had some long, round sticks that I cut into the appropriate size, then drilled little holes on each end of each stick to thread metal wire on each side. I wrapped it around the last stick one time then stuck it back down the holes to secure.

Re: Mocha's thread
So I have been very ill for the past two days, no voice or energy. I was worried that I wasn't interacting enough with Mocha. But this morning he really surprised me.
I got up and found him awake later than usual, just looking at me with a new look of curiosity, as if he was inviting me to bond. He did take treats from me before but it took ages and only one or two. He also bit me quite hard and drew blood those times and I tried with a glove which worked fine a couple of times too. But now I had a feeling that wasn't gonna be needed so I interacted with him barehanded and I'm very glad I did. I recorded some of the moments, I'll link them below, along with two screenshots. I feel happy and proud to have shared this with him, hopefully much more to come from here.

Re: Mocha's thread
I've had a lot of time on my hands the past couple of days and after watching some youtube videos I felt inspired for some editions for Mocha's enclosure. I realized I had not provided anything that would challenge him to get on his back legs, climb or something that moves, apart from his wheel.
So I went through some craft things and made a kebob thingy. It doesn't come off in the bottom, but at the top where it has a small locking mechanism. I wasn't sure he'd enjoy or even notice it, but he went straight to it when he poked his head out the first time tonight. His struggle was quite amusing and I believe he was a bit offended when it swung back at him, causing him to go away for a bit again. Hopefully, it's something he'll enjoy further. (i took it away after he had those two pieces so he doesn't have too much in one go).
I also had a coconut laying around which I cut in half, sanitized and made a little swing thing with sisal string. Not sure about it since it is more likely to suit mice or rats, but if he's interested in it I'm sure he'll show it.
Besides this, I've also put together some cardboard toys to use for the first time taking him out for some bonding in a playpen-setting soon. Looking forward!

Re: Mocha's thread
That looks great! What did you use to make the kebob? I think Jupiter would enjoy something like this as well.

Thanks.
It is super simple. It's a thin wooden hobby stick, similar to a normal BBQ stick (without the sharp end), two metal beads, some wire for a lock at the top and a small keyring + string to hang for length. I was inspired by a video from erinsanimals on youtube, she uses big wooden beads on hers.
If you end up making one for Jupiter, I would love to see it!
