Default Is my hamster a Vegan?

Hi, I was just wondering why my hamster won't eat meat? I've tried chicken, beef, and egg. Maybe I should try meal worms or crickets? I dont know, it confuses me because she wont show any entrust in it. Is there anything I could try, also one more question, how do i get her to chew? Thank you.

If she is eating a regular mix then she will be chewing enough to keep her teeth at a good length. Not all hamsters like things like meat and egg. They would be unlikely to find cooked meat in a wild situation and would be more likely to find live insects and grubs as a source of protein. This is however not essential and they can get all they need from a good quality hamster mix and fresh fruits and veg. Some hamsters will chew happily on a dog biscuit so she may like that?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. My Luna didn't like chicken at all, would never touch it, but she wolfed down egg. They are all different, you could keep trying different things to see if you can find out what yours likes.
Re the chewing, try a whimzee (for dogs, but also fine for hamsters)

I bred a hamster that wasn't too keen on eating meat or egg which I thought was strange given how much her father and brothers loved eating chicken so hamsters can be very individual about what they like. Have you ever tried white fish? One of my girls seemed to prefer fish to meat.

It's not natural for them if you get what I mean. In the wild they're more likely to come across a beetle or mealworm than a chicken or a cow to munch on. They like us, are omnivores and will eat veggies, leaves and flowers in the wild as well as seeds. My lot will eat their kale before their mix.

My OH was a little miffed when not one of our four hamsters came out to see him as he dished up their lovingly chopped fresh veggies but when he came back half an hour later ALL the veggies had gone and still not a nose in sight!

Haha I get the look of betrayal if I don't give mine their veggies but refill their normal bowl. They excitedly go to their bowl, smell it then look at me in disbelief. Then search the empty veggie bowl and stand there staring at me
