Aww, congratulations to you both! Looking forward to seeing him on the forum, but meanwhile we'll all be patient and let the little guy settle in.

Re: Male or Female??
My hamster currently is a female named Loki.
She is very active but in a healthy way.
I've never owned males, but I'm sure they're great.
People that own male hamsters have told me that they're chill and calm, but sleep ALL THE TIME. Like 25/24 hours of the day.
If you want a hammy to play with--> a female is the one for you.
(I'm leaning towards females, but I'm sure they both make great pets!)

I love that name I bet she’s lovely. And I’ve always had females and the dwarf’s especially have been very active but the male Syrian I got in November does seem to sleep a lot although when he’s awake and I’m around he likes a bit of play time. I also have just got a second baby on the 4th - a robo who is ungendered at the moment because of how young it is still

Re: Male or Female??
Reading this is quite interesting. I've only ever had 2 hamsters and they were both male. Tomorrow I am getting 2 female Syrians (housed seperately) so it'll be quite an experience I think

Indeed, saying that I should know better than to attempt to handle a hamster that's just been woke up. Nevermind, I've handled him since (when he woke up naturally and waited a bit) and he was fine. Crawled all over me. Saying that he did try and escape and I had to fix the lid on his bin lol
