Re: Pickle's Thread
Pickle has taken all the nesting material I put out the last couple of nights so I put some more out tonight. He came to the door of his house to see what was going on and came out for a little chat - had a big stretch, found a walnut and quickly carried the prized possession back into his house Nice to see he is quite relaxed.

Re: Pickle's Thread
Pickle is nicely settled into his Plaza cage. He dug a load of bedding out from in front of his ladder so there was a big hole there - meaning he couldn’t reach the ladder! Luckily it is screwed to the bars so can’t fall over. And he can still use his tube so he had alternative access to his shelf. The substrate dug out had mostly been moved to one side of his house - front, side and top. So suspect he is nesting at that end and was insulating his nest end - a very nice mountain effect . His coconut now looks like a hobbit hole surrounded by substrate all round. Colder nights recently and he takes all the nesting paper I put out every night.
He was out in the cage last night - he likes sitting on top of the bendy bridge in the middle of the cage. He cane out for some sofa time for the first time since his cage move and had a stroke. He seemed pleased to see me as went down the inside of my fleece top and crawled all over me and tickled my neck . Either that or I was just an interesting obstacle course. But he does snuggle up to your neck before either crawling down my back or inside my top.

Re: Pickle's Thread
Good to hear Pickle is settled into his new cage & making himself at home in there, love seeing the mountains they make! Nice to have had some out of cage time with his mum too

Re: Pickle's Thread
Pickle has certainly been making himself at home. He must approve now and came out to say thank you to mum!

Re: Pickle's Thread
Thank you Coco and Ria. Yes he seems very happy and has more to do. He likes his house. I haven't had a peek inside yet. I think I'll only do that when he's out of the cage - he never did like the roof of his house being lifted off (I don't think any of them like that when they're in the house although Moo is quite laid back about it). But he is quite laid back generally.

Re: Pickle's Thread
Thank you Luna In the end it's just a longer version of his Savic cage with the big door in the same place, so not too unfamiliar . He needed a bigger house so the two things went together.

Re: Pickle's Thread
Pickle opening his Christmas presents. He has been very skitty since Moo died and was hiding away with his ears down a lot. So been getting him out more regularly and he is a bit perkier now. Still a bit skitty though. He wasn't interested in the cracker with treats inside - too busy rushing about and trying to jump off the sofa. He also got two snooze cubes - a Christmas one and one for the rest of the year. He has never had a snooze cube. Moo had one which he loved and he was buried in it (cut in half to make a bed).
I had loosely wrapped the snooze cubes in paper and they had hamster chocolate drops and treats inside in the hope he would try and get at them and rip the paper off but he was a bit too skitty to be interested - until I partly unwrapped them then he went into the paper to investigate and seems to like the Christmas one. Still didn't eat any of the treats and was off to do his usual sofa climbing and wanting to jump off. He seems to want some free roaming but it was a bit late in the evening for that.
Then back to the snooze cube to investigate it some more (after I retrieved him from the top of the sofa) and actually sat in it for a while thinking - so I think he likes it (they all like them!) but was not in the mood for sitting still for long.
