What's he like. First the spoon and now the water bottle! He wants an en suite kitchen not bathroom.

I also think that Metacam is the best option considering his age. Let's hope that he will stay comfortable and able to hamster about as per normal for some time yet.

Moo is such a handsome old boy.

Ha ha. En-suite kitchen. He is quite a character. He is also a lovely gentle hamster. Very sweet. He does love his food. And is the most particular hamster I’ve ever had when it comes to toiletting. His pee corner is the furthest away from his nest in his house and neat and tidy. He’s a sweetie and very house proud. Maybe he does want an en-suite kitchen as well as an en-suite bathroom! (They do anyway really with their larder!).

He seems fine in himself. I am not sure if he’s still using his wheel or not. My hamster cam got broken (knocked over too many times and usb connection damaged). I really miss being able to watch what they did the night before so have ordered another one - so I will know soon if he’s using his wheel or not.

Just put some substrate on top of his wheel to see if he's using it.

Not sure it would work with a camera because i'm clueless with technology of any kind But i've recently changed to a magnetic charger connection on my phone.

I permanently inserted a magnet connector into my phone's charging port which connects to a magnetic lead. It protects the port from damage and wear and tear.

How do you manage to knock it over when you're meant to be in bed watching? No good trying to blame the hamsters either, lol.

Hard to describe but if you could see the Heath Robinson interior design in our living room (heaving with stuff) it might be understandable! So the only place I could put the camera has now become stepsons little gaming desk/corner. So I have to sit the camera on the back of the sofa sometimes - it doesn’t get knocked off there - what happens is someone walks past and the cable gets yanked if it’s plugged in. The plug has to reach the nearest socket. When stepson is not here I use his table!

Anyway the magnet idea sounds good! Any links? It is just a usc to usb cable (or it might be micro usb to usb - not sure.).

Yeah I’ll try the substrate on the wheel - I always suggest that to others - but I’ve got lazy looking at the footage instead! In fact I’ve got quite dependant on it - monitoring my babies . I want to see if he manages getting IH and out of the wheel
Ok and if he is struggling with anything in the cage as it will need some tweaking.

Haha! I've got one of them at home. My OH is a bigger hoarder than all the hamsters put together. Solution is to move his hoard into another room and add to it bit by bit.

Can you not get a height adjustable tripod for the camera? Then tape the tripod with crime scene type tape so it can't get overlooked. Just a thought.

Sorry, don't know how to do links. I typed magnetic phone charger leads into Amazon search engine and loads came up.

Moo moo's lump/lumps have got really quite large. He still comes out to get his food but doesn't use his wheel any more. He also goes up his ramp to get his bit of veg but I've taken any roof/higher things out of the cage. The main issue it is making it very difficult for him to walk as the lump is so large and gets in the way of his front paws. We've cut out the bottoms of the circular entrance doors on his house as that was clearly bothering him as he was scratching and chewing at one of them (despite no front teeth) and he seems to approve of that. Annoyingly one of the doors got missed so I will need to take the house out again to do that one. But main thing is he can go in and out and to his nest easily.

I'm seeing how he goes. I think the Metacam is helping but can't be sure. He certainly likes it and licks it up.

I like to think he knew he was getting near his time so had one last grand pose for the autumn competition.

I am sorry to hear about how Moo’s lumps are developing. You have done the best things to make his cage safer and more comfortable for him.
I loved your photo of him for November and often looked at it.
