Ragna will be peeing somewhere but don't be tempted to remove all his bedding and substrate in 2 weeks time hunting for his pee spot. It may well be buried a bit. If you remove everything in 2 weeks, then just as he has settled in and scented his house, along comes a big bad human and removes everything familiar. Remember they have poor eyesight and rely on smell and then hearing. I don't spot clean daily. It may not be popular to say so, but why? They love their smell. Every 2/3 days is good enough. In the heat maybe 2 days but go slowly as he settles in. My lovely Mocho used a potty from the start bless him and I had to get used to my current boy Maestro ignoring both sand baths in his cage. He has a two roomed house ( see Rodipet) and chooses to use the outer room as his en suite bathroom and also stores some food there too. Yuk. That is the only place I have to clean out. I check his nest room occasionally but I do not change it that often. Very stressful for him. I apologise for any cleaning, as he comes to check out what I am doing, by giving him a special nut treat I have waiting specially. The rest of his cage is fine and has been for months. He does not burrow but uses the tunnels and hides and shelves in the cage. So I can keep an eye on things and only remove and replace a little Fitch when I feel an area needs it. Be patient, Ragna is probably peeing a bit here and there. He will settle on a favourite place soon enough. Then put some of the smelly Fitch into the potty and put it into the chosen corner/spot. If you are lucky Ragna will get the hint. If not, in the end your nose will lead you to his chosen place! The sniff test! Then you can deal with it, but not daily.

Thanks so much for the reassurance. Will leave him be. Thanks, feel a lot better about it. Will wait till next week and do the sniff test. Who knows...he might have moved into his house by then. When I find the pee will move his toilet there. Thanks again Coco for the advice.

Re: Meet Ragna
Oh, the OH knows that he will have to set it up for me and yes, that's the one.
When i come down in the morning the scattered seeds on the shelves have gone, the sand bath had a good dig, the wheel.has been used etc so he's quite active at night but he won't let me watch him. Well, he will now.
I just gave him a small dandelion leaf and he poked his head out to check if there was another but one is enough so he went to bed but got up when he got the smell of porridge!

Re: Meet Ragna
Yes, i agree with Coco, don't worry about his peeing habits just now. I did too when i first got Henry and there's a whole thread somewhere about Henry and his pee.
Henry pees in his toilets now but he's a lazy hamster and i saw him pee in the oppposite corner the other night. I was so surprised that i called out: Henry, this is the wrong corner, your toilet is over there! My OH laughed and stated quite firmly: Henry is a hamster and he can pee where he wants to... sounding almost jealous.

LOL... Henry is too cute! I just ordered the camera... Will arrive in 10 days. What is it with Saudi, shipping and 10 days! Lol
Thanks as well for the reassurance. Ragna wasn't very active last night as none of his food was touched I scattered but the camera will help. I was bathing my baby this morning and opened her cloth diaper and left her on the middle of the bed... She hasn't turned over yet...to get her a onesie. I came back in telling her how mommy had bought a camera for Ragna when I was met with a baby with her legs in the air and her cloth diaper on her head. No idea how she had pulled it from under her so quickly. That's what she thought of Ragnas camera... Lol

Re: Meet Ragna
Lol!! Maybe your baby has covered her ears because she doesn't want to hear any more Ragna stories and is wondering what happened to Peppa Pig!

Re: Meet Ragna
I read in another thread that Ragna turned his nose up to a pellet and you didn't have a treat. Hamsters love seeds. Just offer him a sunflower or pumpkin seed or a piece of unsalted nut. You'll probably find something in your kitchen he likes. Food always helps to win them over.

Ok, will do. I wanted to offer that during the day to say hi and check up on him. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Meet Ragna
I did get this iegeek camera, had a look at the instructions and returned it. It's probably quite a good one but i would need to upgrade my phone to one with a bigger and better screen, i don't have or want an ipad and my laptop is in the back of the wardrobe because i don't have the patience to use it.
If i could find a pet camera in the shops i could look at, that's quick and easy to use and nothing is simple and straightforward nowadays, i would get it but this one requires brain power and i'm very lazy minded.
Will be a doodle for you though to set it up and observe Ragna.
HOW IS RAGNA?

Oh dear! My husband is so sorting the camera out. Lol!
I haven’t seen Ragna at all! I know he is alive and kicking because he is active in his cage but otherwise it’s silent. Lol! We doing a shop in next couple days so will get him some natural snacks. Unsalted peanuts, walnuts in shell etc. will then offer him a treat during the day so I can check up on him. Is that ok?
