287g! Poppy makes Henry look a lightweight who went down from 230g to only 222g which worried me a bit.

Glad she's back and back to her normal, glorious self. Looking forward ro see some photos of her.

Rads, I'm so happy to hear that. Wow at 287g what a beauty of a weight and Mistress Poppy will look even more beautiful with her added weight. I think everyone has been spoiling their pets even more because of lockdown, it makes you appreciate them even more. Noah has been a godsend the last 11 weeks, he's been into his housework more. And I've been spoiling him. Noah's only about 180g, I think he's the lightest ham I've had in 20 years. He does get lots but he likes to keep fit.

Thanks TL.
Poppy is quirky to say the least, for a few months now she has taken to excavating the wood shavings in her cage and building the biggest nest piles under her box that you can imagine these are sometimes nearly 10inches in height and she is buried deep in the middle of it all.
The only thing is she doesn't like me clearing it out but have to as even though she had a large sand pit for a loo she still pees, and poos in her nest and then throws another layer of shavings over it...
She gets quite stroppy at me clearing it all out she rushes about trying to save some of her stash and chirps and chatters at me.
Once it is all cleared out she then starts digging to refill the area I have just cleared out.
Once it is all done and a new large pile of fresh bedding is sorted for her she sits in the middle of it all and sulks..

Poppy update,
Poppy is doing her thing as usual, when she has her weekend excursion into the lounge, she always goes for this particular cupboard, once inside she attacks the carpet in just one spot.... I have no idea why but she does.
Tonight I popped tea into her cage which was a nice cool salad of lettuce, shredded red cabbage, shredded carrot, yellow pepper, cucumber and a little bit of cheese.
Poppy emerged from her house aka her cardboard box wandered over to her food sniffed it , looked at me looked back at her food, looked back and chirped at me three times turned round and back into her house....
What an odd bod she is, deffo getting more vocal too. She seems to be getting more expressive.

Lovely to hear about Poppy It sounds like she thinks that cupboard is a doorway to somewhere else and trying to get through/under So funny about the salad. I have never had chirupping with a hamster - it must take some deciphering! Maybe there was something she wasn't keen on in the salad? Although I can't see what would not appeal to a hamster! I know ours can get a bit miffed if you put something in the cage that they consider shouldn't be in that place! Or maybe it was just - thank you but you woke me up so I'll eat it later. Did she eat it in the end?

Oh yes she did her usual left it for ages then scoffed/pouched 90% of it. Lately she seems to be getting more vocal I must sort a you tube link to Poppy’s shenanigans, it is quite amusing. Her little chirps are funny at times though when I clean her cage that normally sets her off.

Poppy seems to be slowing down quite suddenly, I only let her out to roam once a week nowadays normally a Saturday night, she is happily eating but spending more and more time asleep in her ever expanding nest, this means she is due a clear out again, so that is going mean stroppy hamster time, ah well can't be helped but she is a grubby little madam, even though she pees in her sand she still has to pee in her nest area, but who cares when you have a loveable little fur all to look after?
As for her age I'm guessing 19-20 months so she is in her twilight years, but an hour scooting about the lounge floor and getting into mischief, and finding all the dust and cobwebs with her whiskers seems to keep her happy.
I'll just keep her well fed warm and happy and let her plod along at her own pace. Her health is good as is her weight so no worries there.

Poppy sounds very content Rads, still enjoying life by the sounds of it even if she is beginning to slow down a little.

I think Poppy slowing down is more noticable because she's such an active hamster. I'd say its just a matter of getting older. Does she still run on her wheel a lot?

Henry is 20/21 months old now and i can't remember last time i saw him on his wheel but he's never been an active hamster and has developed some health issues.

Very funny about the salad and i wonder what she was trying to tell you, probably told you off about something.
