Her Ladyship has now worked out how to escape from her ball, this we found out as all of a sudden she ame scooting into the lounge and then realised we where there and froze on the spot, at least I could grab her before she made off again. The look on her face was priceless " Oh Bugger I've been spotted" about sums it up.. Mrs R didn't find it amusing though.

Watch this if you want to see how a hamster can scale a vertical wall...!

This is Poppy at her maddest best, she amazes me no end who would have thought that a crazy creature like this could be so bloody determined and single minded and so clever...!
OMG you have a very effective duster there, send her to mine when she’s done!

Hey folks not posted for quite a while. Anyway tonight Poppy had not been out for her usual fresh foods, later on I checked her and still nothing, so lifted her nest Bix up and there she was, but very lethargic, took a little dried mango from me but showed very little interest, got her out and she just Sat in my hand sniffing hardly moving at all. So sat on the sofa with her and again she hardly moved normally she is scooting about like a mad thing but didn't do much seems to have lost a lot of her strength. Have checked her over and can see nothing apparently wrong with her no lumps bumps etc which is not like her at all, so have popped her back in her cage she sniffed about and got in her wheel but she seemed not to have the energy or strength of will to move it. 5am this morning she was up to her usual tricks running her wheel till it virtually smoked chewing her bars to trim her teeth, and then scoffing a slice of apple in short order. Have done another bowl of fresh foods and put a bowl of water in her cage so she doesn't have to climb to her water bottles. If any one has any ideas happily to receive them. Age wise it's just over a year since we got her and she was about three months old when we got her but that is a best guess.
The one weird thing is to me she looks scared...! Our daughter was over today and her dog had a wander in to the house so unless this smell is freaking her out that is all that is new in our abode.

Hi Rads, good to see you back.
About Mistress Poppy, it might have something to do with the hot weather England has been getting and your daughters dog smell (not saying the dog is smelly but, all pets do have one) have reached Poppy, all pets react differently. I do hope this is a one off and it's nothing serious.

I’m not sure if it’s the same but Polo has done the ‘freeze’ thing a couple of times, once when DH moved his guitar a bit quick. She was a statue for ages, I scooped her up and put her in her cage but she was still frozen, I had to physically put her in her bed, I thought he had scared her to death, she was fine the next morning. This was the worst she has done it, other times it has been over something more minor, a strange smell after we had lit the fire or some particularly noisy garden birds but I’ve been able to distract her with a food treat which has worked. Hopefully it’s something like this for your Poppy

Hi, TL
Nice to hear from you, Poppy is back to her normal self thank the lord, it took a few days but she is as though nothing has ever happened, if anything she is more quirky than before.
I weighed her today and was shocked she is 287grams which is a heck of a weight.....! No wonder she is struggling to climb the sofa mountain.
Seeing as she uses her wheel everyday and is fed good wholesome fresh foods and has her regular Hamster dry food on hand as well..
